"Underneath" is the first single for Alanis Morissette's seventh studio album, Flavors of Entanglement, digitally released on April 15, 2008. The music video for "Underneath" first premiered on September 15 in Los Angeles, as part of the Elevate Film Festival. According to Morrisette, "the song is about how you can only change the world after you change yourself."
