"Violet Hill" is the first single from Coldplay's fourth studio album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, released 6 May 2008. On 15 June 2008, the album topped the UK Album Chart, despite having been on sale for only three days. In that time, it sold 302,000 copies, making it one of the fastest-selling records in history.
