"Spinning Around" was originally intended for Paula Abdul's "comeback" album (as she wrote the lyrics as well as some of the music). However, as the album never came into fruition, it was given to Australian singer Kylie Minogue for her seventh studio album Light Years in 2000. The song was a worldwide success, charting high in many countries, marking Minogue's return to the forefront of pop music.
