"Bitter Sweet Symphony" was released as the lead single by British alternative rock band The Verve from their third album Urban Hymns (1997). The song reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100. After the song became a massive worldwide hit, the band broke up due to creative struggles between band members.
