Ke$ha Conquers Australia

Ke$ha's status as the voice of our generation was underlined yet again this morning with a triumphant appearance on Sunrise. I thought her iconic X Factor performance would go down as the defining moment of 2010 but our holy Queen upped the stakes even further by bringing her vocal genius (and crotch) to breakfast television. From the moment the new and vastly improved Madonna appeared on stage in her sequined hot pants and ripped stockings looking like she'd just crawled out of a Kings Cross gutter after a hard night of stripping, I knew we were in for something special. Ke$ha's angelic voice is always a thing of beauty but this was her best live performance of "We R Who We R" yet. Not only did she sing the fuck out of her uplifting response to gay teen suicide, she also managed to bring lesbian dancers and drag queens to morning TV. However, the defining moment occurs at the 1:20 minute mark when the already legendary diva climbs on to the sofa next to Kochie, flashes her crotch and throws a wine glass full of glitter over him while singing about "hitting on dudes. Hard!" Gold! Tickets for Ke$ha's Sydney tour are on sale NOW through Ticketek. I'm crying and shaking with anticipation!

Beyoncé & The CD/DVD of 2010

Beyoncé's "I Am" tour was literally a life changing experience for me. I can still remember every second of it including the dodgy hot dog I ate before the show and the land speed record I set running to the bathroom between "Me, Myself & I" and "Ego". Beyoncé had always been a favourite of mine but I walked out of Acer Arena a total convert to the Dereon dressed deity. Her voice, talent and incomparable beauty took my breath away. You can read my review here. Well, after Sony vehemently denying the concert would ever be released, "I Am... World Tour" will finally hit shelves on the 30th of November - just in time for Christmas. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving! If that's not exciting enough, the tour is also being released as a live CD (above) and the DVD is rumoured to include a compilation of performances from around the world, allowing fans to see footage of the show they attended. Amazing. Here is the set list. I can not wait to re-live the glory of the best concert I have ever seen!

Zoë Badwi Rocks Hey Hey, Closes In On Top 10!

Zoë Badwi's "Freefallin'" juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. The song has already been a club smash for Australia's leading dance diva and recently nudged its way into the national top 20 after a steady chart climb. I thought the Amy Pearson penned anthem might have peaked at number 16 last week but a stunning performance on Hey Hey It's Saturday has pushed "Freefallin'" into the iTunes top 10 (currently sitting pretty at #6) and landed Zoë her first Gold accreditation for sales exceeding 35,000 copies. Amazing and well deserved! Unfortunately, I was too busy getting drunk on Saturday night to catch the entire performance but a kind soul has finally uploaded it to YouTube. The former face of Sirens kicks of the show with the old dancers under the dress trick. It's not exactly new but I can't think of anyone who has pulled it off with this much verve and glamour since Kylie's Fever tour. Things then get a bit sexy with Zoë's dirty dancers and a delicious strut towards the camera. I love her outfit and she sounds great. The only thing that could have possibly made this any better is a surprise cameo from Amy doing her amazing "Butterfingers" dance routine! Australia has been put on notice.

I (Really) Like That!

Now this is fucking amazing! I just got sent a link to Luciana's club show in Brisbane (you can watch all 5 songs here) and it looks even more spectacular than her Adelaide gig. The setlist was basically the same - she only swapped "I Wish You Would" with "Party Animal" - but Family Nightclub upped the ante by providing a full stage show, complete with sexy dancers and more flashing lights than Janet's deluxe dildo. All five songs are impressive, particularly the big finale. Luciana turned Brisbane out with a brilliant rendition of "I Like That". She gives 110% (as usual) but the dancers and staging take it to the next level. I love the hair flicks at the end. And just look at the crowd - those hot fuckers can't get enough of Luci's top 3 smash! This makes me nostalgic for last weekend. It was so much fun and I can't wait for the dance icon to return to Australia and do it all again. La Toya Covers Whitney - Live In Poland!

I don't know how we all survived before Youtube. One minute you're aimlessly trawling through old Taka Boom videos, the next you stumble across a freshly uploaded clip of the Pope of Pop belting out "I Just Wanna Dance With Somebody" in 1993. Needless to say, Toy Toy's stunning performance is a sight to behold. Anyone lucky enough to own a copy of "Live At Balleys" knows the unparalleled brilliance of a La Toya concert and she really brought her A game to Poland. Believe me, the former Eastern Block was well and truly rocked by our Queen's electric dance moves and magnetic stage presence - not to mention the high budget production values (ie. a smoke machine) and a costume which redefines the very essence of glamour! The highlight for me is Toy's hilarious disclaimer at the beginning that she doesn't require audience participation, closely followed by her orgasmic squeals. The thinking man's Jackson really does have the voice of an angel using a vibrator. I don't think it's a coincidence that Whitney went off the rails in early 90s. She clearly caught wind of this performance and knew that La Toya had her beat in the beauty and talent stakes. Ness Ness & Her Hazardous 2nd Single

I just received the follow up to Vanessa Amorosi's stunning #1 platinum selling smash hit "This Is Who I Am" in the post (above). The thing is - I had no idea it had even been released! I'm not trashing the song (which is amazing) but where is the video clip and promotion? Hell, Vanessa is still busy performing "This Is Who I Am" on radio and television shows. It just seems a little rushed and I'm worried "Hazardous" will get lost in the evil vortex that is Christmas. I hope that doesn't happen because the Machopsycho produced pop-rock anthem is seriously brilliant. Those Swedes really dragged the best out of Ness. I love the catchy chorus and everyone can identify with the lyrics about craving something or, more specifically, someone bad for you. Universal have also put together a rather lovely physical single. The artwork is heaven and the tracklist is interesting. I really don't like the unfortunate dance remix (someone call in Tommy Trash - his overhaul of "Kiss Your Mama" is still a personal fave) but the "string remix" is quite pretty. However, the highlight is definitely a dark and dirty acoustic version of "This Is Who I Am". Ness Ness recently performed the song with a very similar arrangement at the AFI Awards, which you can check out below. The performance is stunning and Vanessa looks amazing but what the fuck is she wearing? The train on that skirt looks like it was dragged straight outta Muriel's Wedding. "Hazardous" is out now. I'll post the video as soon as it drops.

Beyoncé Does It Better

So Beyoncé cleaned up at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin winning Best Song ("Halo"), Best Female Singer and Best Video Clip ("Single Ladies"). 2009 has been a banner year for the rich man's Kelly Rowland but I think she officially planted her flag at the summit of pop superstardom in Germany last night. And I'm not talking about her swag of prizes. Few award show performances make any kind of real impact on popular culture (Britney's "Gimme More" debacle at the 2007 MTV Music Awards did for all the wrong reasons) and even fewer are regarded as genuinely iconic (Kylie's legendary "Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head" at the 2002 Brits comes to mind) but that's the only description that fits Beyoncé stunning performance of "Sweet Dreams".

Speaking of Kylie, Beyoncé reminds me a lot of Dannii's slightly more successful sibling circa 2001-2002. She's at the height of her physical beauty, comes across as sexy rather than sordid despite wearing outfits that a PCD stripper would reject and is currently riding a once in a career wave of momentum. The "Sweet Dreams" live extravaganza demonstrates this perfectly. Most of the press has concentrated on Beyoncé's eye popping red lingerie (which The Prophet amusingly describes as a cross between Vanity 6 and the star of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers - one of my all time favourite movies!) but this performance is about so much more than an incredibly sexy outfit. There's the beautiful nursery rhyme intro performed inside a red satin heart, pounding militaristic drums, a catwalk strut at approximately 1:50 mins that would make Miss Jay cry tears of joy, pitch perfect vocals and the some of the fiercest choreography I've seen in years (see 2:50 minutes for proof). Say what you like about Beyoncé - she is the complete package and currently makes the rest of the pop world look second rate. All hail the new Queen.
