"Beat It" was originally a 1983 hit single from Michael Jackson's album Thriller. Fall Out Boy frontman, Patrick Stump played the riff from "Beat It" during soundcheck and the band began playing the song with him. The band performed the song during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards and it also features John Mayer as a guest guitarist.
